Lighting Techniques

In this Film Mark Cleghorn is in the studio and today shoot is all about glamor. This film is based on the trends in the UK which is storming the magazine market. This is not a boudoir shoot this is glamor, and often the two are confused, so marks shooting with harsh lighting and marks looking more for a rock chick feeling with the type of clothing and expressions. 

Mark talks about the studio setup, the back grounds he will be using the positioning of the lights and what each lights job is doing during the shoot.  When the shoot starts you will see the variety that mark shoots and the interaction that he has with the model, as the shoot progresses mark changed the lighting setup and exposures.

In this film you see Mark Cleghorn out on location with engaged couple Anna and Jonathan for their pre-wedding shoot. The reason for a pre-wedding is so that the couple can feel comfortable with the photographer, but also so the photographer can get familiar with the couple ready for their wedding day.

This Pre-wedding shoot is shot in Spring, Marks taken the couple on location to a local park. Shooting in a park environment gives a variety of locations which also allows mark to work in a lot more locations and access to different pasts that are not available in summer months.

Mark talks through the shoot and the lighting in the different locations that he used during the shoot and how to use the light to your advantage no matter where the location is.

In this film Kenny is seen shooting some editorial portraits of Sophie Dyer who is an up and coming classical Singer . This shoot is for publicity shots for Sophie as her career grows. Shooting in a variety of locations from the usher hall in Edinburgh to some more contemporary locations in the streets of Edinburgh

This film features Mark Cleghorn shooting Heather in the studio for the NTM Promotion. The shoot shows the simple lighting and the variety achieved during the session.

In this three part film Mark Cleghorn is on location with one of his mentors and a Fellow in Portrait Photography Peter Lowry. Peters work is very classical, everything from the use of light on location, technique, story telling and styling with the shot.

Peter Lowry, who established his studio in Frome in 1976, is qualified as a Fellow of The British Institute of Professional Photography, The Royal Photographic Society and The Royal Society of Arts.

Not only has he studied with some of the finest photographers in the world, but he has also lectured in various European countries and extensively throughout the British Isles.

His wedding and portrait photographs have won many competitions, receiving The BIPP National Portrait Photographer of the Year Award on three occasions and no fewer than three coveted Kodak Gold Awards, thus becoming a member of the elite Kodak "Gold Circle"

Wedding Apprentice's Tracy and Jane get going on Day 7 of their wedding photographer training in a 5 part Bride and Groom shoot on Location film.

In this shoot Mark demonstrates Exposure, Posing, Composition and Lighting techniques which are essential building blocks for skill sets and a perfect foundation for the rest of the years training.

In this 4 part film Mark Cleghorn is shooting a very small wedding for some existing portrait clients that are getting re-married. With only 12 guest mark has to shoot the variety to make sure his got the shots for the album.

In part two of the film Mark talks about the bridal portraits that he had taken in part one why he shoot natural light and reflective instead of off camera flash. He then moves outside to do more groom and best man shoots, moving back up stairs to finish off the detail shots before they make there way to the ceremony.
