In this series of films you get to follow the two SWPP Apprentices, Lisa & Anna over 12 months on their route to higher qualifications and hence better photography skills. You will be able to track the Apprentices on their training journey using a combination of specific films on PhotoTraining4U as well as hands on monthly tuition with Mark Cleghorn on their route to becoming better photographers.

In this 4 part film Mark interacts with the Apprentices during a guide to boudoir, shooting with Rachael, one of his models he demonstrates 2 styles of lighting Hard and Soft.

Lesson 5 Part 4 includes – posing on the floor, the Do’s and Dont’s with posing limbs as well as using netting to slim a client.

Lesson 5 Part 3 includes – a change in set, now using the HiLite and netting to give a window effect as a background as well as a light source, plus a mixture of Hard and Soft lighting. Posing again is the hot topic, as the photgraphers job in Boudoir photography is to make sure the client looks thinner as well as an enhanced posture.

Lesson 5 Part 2 includes – Mark continues the basic start to the session with the body details using hard light and then uses a diffuser Trigrip reflector to soften the light as well as to cut down the working aperture. Direction of light is changed to give different moods by introducing and using shadow in the portrait. Lisa & Anna then take on the session usingthe first setup.

Mark then changes the lighting setup by introducing a second light fitted with a honeycomb.

Lesson 5 Part 1 includes – Lighting and Posing. First of all Mark builds a simple set in the studio, then discusses the different reflector dishes and the effect on the subject and the background, before bringing in the model to start the session in a partners favourite white shirt scenario. The session starts with just hard lighting with a one light setup, initially three quarter portraits,, then head and shoulders and finishing with body shapes and details.

In addition to the setting up and what equipment to use to get classic and creative low key portraits, Mark demonstrates the use of lighting to turn a basic portrait into something special in his quest for photographers to “get back to black”.. You will also get to see him controlling the pose and interacting with the subject, whilst sharing his portrait lighting techniques with you.

Shooting young children can be a daunting task even for an experienced photographer so in this series of films following one child from new born. During 1 year Through The Lens you get to see the variety that Mark Cleghorn shoots of one child as they grow.

In this film, the first part of Baby Evie’s 1 year TTL, you get to see Mark Cleghorn shooting real and raw in the studio and in this session not only the baby by her self but also with her brother and sister. In this part Mark also discusses what he expected to get during the session, the basic studio setup, basic pricing and sales expectations as well as what the client brings to the session.
