Real and RAW is the only way to explain this type of wedding training by Mark Cleghorn, as you get to see how a working photographer copes under the pressures of a real wedding day, nothing fake here, as even the images have only been touched by camera RAW in conversion, so no Photoshop, just conversion from RAW to jpeg with some of the images selected to Black & White.

The 6th and final part of Confetti & Lace IV features Mark Cleghorn discussing the wedding day overall. Mark chats about the wedding, the time management, location choice image variety, camera technique, how he uses flash as well as the general wedding day goals.

Location Location Winter Wonderland

Location Location Winter Wonderland

In this film you get to see a location location shoot of a winter wedding bride and groom, the Location Location session is a part of the couples wedding package and shot as soon after the wedding as possible. On a freezing night shoot Mark moves quickly through a variety of areas at a fun fair location including the Carousel, a Fun Fair Stall, at the edge of the Ice Rink andfinally using the Big Wheel as a backdrop.

Using both natural light and off camera flash, which today is the Quantum units, he shoots a variety of images to bring movement and a fun but romantic atmosphere to the photographs, in a quick succession of posing and locations in his usual real and raw manner, perfect on a freezing cold December night.

Unusually for Mark’s Phototraining4U films you get to see the finished proof images after post production. The images have a pre-set applied using the onOne PhotoTools plug-in Software for Photoshop, the pre-set gives a soft grainy glow.

Confetti & Lace IV – Part 4 The Reception & Groups

The forth part of Confetti & Lace IV features the group photography both inside for the informal drinks reception and the posed groups. When shooting inside you can see how Mark uses and assistant to control the flash position to illuminate the subjects as well as to help lift the light in the scene. In contrast the posed groups, which are never ending are shot outside in the bright sunlight andback-lit whilst using some off camera flash to help illuminate the subjects and control contrast.

Commercial photography can be a daunting prospect for many photographers but in this film Mark Cleghorn goes back to his roots and shoots images for a hotel to use on line as well as in print.

In this the third of a 3 part film Mark is back inside the hotel shooting some bedroom interiors and then in the dinning room to create some ambiance with flash and daylight. Mark then shows you how he shoots some simple food images for the brochure with a simple lighting setup.

Its a tuff job, Mark Cleghorn gets to shoot Fashion again, this time a quick lingerie shoot in side one of Londons premier halls, Olympia, with its incredible industrial ceiling.

Lighting the subject with only Quantum flash units this film demonstrates how mark uses flash on location to either make dark moody images or bright and light portraits.

Mark starts the film by explaining the basic Quantum flash units as well as the set up, including exposure and the light positions, then you get to see the different gadgets and accessories he uses when working on location, when time is limited and light is dropping.

Accessories used include – Gorilla Grip, Ezybox Hot Shoe, Snoot, Lastolite Reflectors, FreeXWire radio triggers.

Bride & Groom in Urban Architecture

This film demonstrates how Mark uses a variety of lens choice from a 12mm to a 200mm all to produce different images, the long lens to crush the background focus the super wide to distort. You get to see also how the variety is achieved through different camera angles, as well as the power of a reflector even on a windy day. The end of the film also sees his quantum flash units out of the bag to compensate for the over hang of the motorway, pushing himself, kit and hisassistant to the limit as he shoots over and over again great images and all in a time restraint.

Setting Up Off Camera Flash – Quantum

In this technical film Mark Cleghorn explains the basic setting up of a quantum off camera flash set up, including where to position the portable lighting system , what power and how to decide on what shutter speed to use to create great images. He discusses the accessories to shape and soften the light along with adding colour to image with gels.

At the end of this film you also see how he puts the working techniques into practice.
