In these new WOW style apprentice films John and Osy the original PT4U apprentices join Mark Cleghorn on location were he sets out to shoot images to WOW!

The train station is the first WOW Apprentice location, full of colour the images are dynamic from the first shot to the last.

Unlike previous apprentice films this time the boys get to see Mark working in his real and raw style but at the same time getting to ask why and how, something all photographers want to know. Mark try’s to explain his thinking process when shooting to help the apprentices get a little more inside his head and thoughts as well as seeing the shot develop from location to location.

In this film you get to see Mark Cleghorn shooting model Rachael in a Dublin Hotel bar with just 2 speed lites and a couple of stands. Slow shutter speeds, high ISO, wide open aperture’s to capture detail in the scene as well as modelling and fill.

Mark explains why and how he sets out to get the shot, including ISO, Aperture, Shutter Speeds, Off Camera Flash, Radio Triggering.

This film made in conjunction with The Lastolite School Of Photography and concentrates on the Ezybox Hotshoe, a softbox for speedlite flash and how to use them everyday.

The film gives you an insight in to using and getting the best out of a Lastolite Ezybox Hotshoe when shooting on locations.

Mark Cleghorn demonstrates the portable softbox and how to use it to control contrast, fully illuminate the subject as well as to balance the flash with the ambient or to dominate. Shot in New York you get to see how Mark manipulate the flash on location to create a variety of striking portraits.

In this 4 part film Mark goes back to basics on location with the apprentices by allowing them only 1 Shot per setup, this is to make them think before they shoot. This technique will make them look at the lighting, pose and location more in depth as all Mark allows them is one practice shot before the image has to be captured.

Lesson 5 Part 4 includes – Composition, Male posing, using the location, off camera flash with pocket wizard shooting at 1/3200 th, plus setting up the camera and using the Elinchrom Ranger flash.

In this film you get to see Osy & John’s 4th homework critique, Mark Osmand Known as “OSY” & John Moore’s were the first ever PhotoTraining4U “Apprentices” they train together 1 day every month with Mark Cleghorn and 6 months down the line they now share the critique together.

Over the 12 months you are able to track John & Osy on there training journey using a combination of specific films on PhotoTraining4U and hands on monthly tuition with Mark Cleghorn on route to becoming a better photographers.

Location Location Winter Wonderland

Location Location Winter Wonderland

In this film you get to see a location location shoot of a winter wedding bride and groom, the Location Location session is a part of the couples wedding package and shot as soon after the wedding as possible. On a freezing night shoot Mark moves quickly through a variety of areas at a fun fair location including the Carousel, a Fun Fair Stall, at the edge of the Ice Rink andfinally using the Big Wheel as a backdrop.

Using both natural light and off camera flash, which today is the Quantum units, he shoots a variety of images to bring movement and a fun but romantic atmosphere to the photographs, in a quick succession of posing and locations in his usual real and raw manner, perfect on a freezing cold December night.

Unusually for Mark’s Phototraining4U films you get to see the finished proof images after post production. The images have a pre-set applied using the onOne PhotoTools plug-in Software for Photoshop, the pre-set gives a soft grainy glow.
