Shooting young children can be a daunting task even for an experienced photographer so in this series of films following one child from new born. During 1 year Through The Lens you get to see the variety that MarkCleghorn shoots of one child as they grow.

In this film, the second session of Baby Evie’s 1 year TTL, you get to see Mark Cleghorn shooting real and raw in the studio .

This sesson sees baby Evie by her self with Mark shooting a variety images using simple backgrounds to give Low key, High key as well as images with red netting, he even gets to use his Angel Wings as a final prop.

Mark also discusses what he expected to get during the session, the basic studio setup and sales expectations.

Shooting Hair Jego Salon Part 1

In this 2 part film you get to see Mark Cleghorn shooting a commercial hair fashion shoot for a salon in Cardiff, the shoot takes place in the hustle and bustle of the clients own premises.

In this first part of the shoot Mark discusses the set up, the equipment, and the style of the shoot, which ends up being a simple white background using the Hilite, however the lighting of the models is different as its all about the hair.

You also get to see how Mark interacts and animates the models pose to bring energy to the shoot. The images you see are once again Real and RAW staright out of the camera.

Shooting Kids – Joe in the studio

In this film you get to see a young boy being photographed in the studio by Mark Cleghorn, during the session you see how mark interacts with Joe, his subject and how he animates the session and pose from a distance.

From a white wall to a curtain background and a simple lighting setup, this session could have been shot in a clients home or a temporary studio setup. The main light is a large softbox to simulate the sunlight direction coming through a window. Its quite a difficult session in some ways as their is little interaction between the subject and Mark, quite typical of this age, even though the variety is quite amazing in such a short session.

In this series of films you get to follow the first two PhotoTraining4U Apprentices, Osy & John over a 12 months training journey using a combination of specific films on PhotoTraining4U as well as hands on monthly tuition with Mark Cleghorn on their route to becoming better photographers.

In this 4 part film Mark goes back to basics on location with the apprentices by allowing them only 1 Shot per setup, this is to make them think before they shoot. This technique will make them look at the lighting, pose and location more in depth as all Mark allows them is one practice shot before the image has to be captured.

Lesson 5 Part 2 includes – Using Reflections, Framing The Subject, Male Posing, off camera flash, location finding.

Location Location Winter Wonderland

Location Location Winter Wonderland

In this film you get to see a location location shoot of a winter wedding bride and groom, the Location Location session is a part of the couples wedding package and shot as soon after the wedding as possible. On a freezing night shoot Mark moves quickly through a variety of areas at a fun fair location including the Carousel, a Fun Fair Stall, at the edge of the Ice Rink andfinally using the Big Wheel as a backdrop.

Using both natural light and off camera flash, which today is the Quantum units, he shoots a variety of images to bring movement and a fun but romantic atmosphere to the photographs, in a quick succession of posing and locations in his usual real and raw manner, perfect on a freezing cold December night.

Unusually for Mark’s Phototraining4U films you get to see the finished proof images after post production. The images have a pre-set applied using the onOne PhotoTools plug-in Software for Photoshop, the pre-set gives a soft grainy glow.
